Vandergrift Artfest

For many years, the Myers Family of Myers Print Shoppe has coordinated the Palette Project that is such a unique part of this festival. Because of the popularity of the palettes, we are providing some additional coordination for the project this year.

A total of 25 palettes will be available for painting. Artists are encouraged to incorporate the Wizard of Oz theme into their creation. Palettes are sponsored, and when the palettes are removed in September they become the property of the sponsor. Sponsors may choose to keep the palette, gift it to the artist who painted it, or donate it to Artfest to be auctioned off to raise funds for future events. If you would like to volunteer to paint one of the palettes, here is the process.

  1. Complete the Palette Artist application. You will be asked to provide a basic concept of what you will be doing with the palette, and at least two photos of your artwork.
  2. If you are chosen to paint one of this year’s palettes you will be asked to pick up your wooden palette from Myers Print Shoppe during the month of April.
  3. Finished palettes must be returned to Myers no later than July 1 so that they can be sealed and placed on display by mid-July.
  4. Artists who want to ensure that they will be able to keep their palette once they are taken down are encouraged to find a sponsor for their particular palette. This way an artist can be sure that the sponsor is willing to gift the palette to them at the end of the season.

Evening availability at the Market Building (JC Penney's)

Palettes can also be picked up by approved applicants on Tuesday, April 4 or Wednesday April 5 between 6 and 8 or on Saturday, April 8 between 9 and 11.

Completed palettes may be returned to the Market on Tuesday, June 20 or Wednesday, June 21 between 6 and 8 pm, or on Saturday June 24 between 9 am and 11 am.

If you can’t make any of those times please message us on Facebook on the Vandergrift Artfest page. Remember that only those who have applied and who have been approved to paint palettes can pick up a palette.

Palettes will be placed in the downtown area the second week in July.

Congratulations to the 25 artists selected as this year's palette artists!
